Hey Holla: Q&A with Mike & Chris Mason

After participating in the Pedal For The People campaign during lockdown we interviewed our first Holla Trails Youth Ambassador, Chris Mason, and his dad Mike…

Where are you both from? Ballito locals!

How many years have you been members at Holla? Mike: 8 years
Chris: for 5 years.

What are your favourite routes? Mike: Red, Yellow and Pink.
Chris: Red, Pink and Purple.

Who do you cycle with mostly? Mike: Mostly with a few of the local roadies who saw the light and started to MTB. Now that Christopher is bigger, we ride together quite often.
Chris: The Sugar Rats Racing Team and my dad.

What do you love most about Holla Trails? Mike: The feeling Holla leaves me with at the end of a ride, ready to take on anything the rest of the day brings. And the post-ride/run coffee, the best in town!
Chris: I love riding with my friends and the freedom of the trails.

How did you get into cycling? Mike: I got a bicycle for my 7th birthday and I’ve owned a bicycle or five ever since!
Chris: It all started when my Gramps gave me a push bike for my 2nd birthday.

Christopher, any advice you would like to share with other youngsters about cycling?
