Holla Trails Classic 2020 postponed
Statement from Nic Jordan, Holla Trails director
Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, we have decided to postpone the Holla Trails Classic, originally scheduled for 5 April 2020 at Fairview Estates, Ballito. A new date will be announced once confirmed. As always, the health and safety of our riders and families in our community is paramount. As we have seen globally and locally, it is important to avoid large gatherings of people at this time. We all need to pull together as communities to ensure we do all we can to slow the spread of the virus. Participants that have already registered for the event will be contacted and refunded. If you have any questions, please contact events@fairviewestatesballito.co.za.
This has been a tough decision to make, as we believe that mountainbiking and trail running can be considered low risk for spreading infection. However, an event of this nature, with a potential field of over 700 and a social gathering at the race village, could be conducive to spreading the virus. As the Holla Trails Classic is known not only for the fantastic sporting experience, but also the entertainment and socialising that make up an important part of the day, we would rather do this as soon as the situation normalises. We are committed to providing the full Holla Trails Classic race experience as soon as we are able to.
Holla Trails remains open as usual, offering probably one of the safest ways to stay fit during the pandemic. We hope to see you enjoying the trails.
