ACCESS TO FAIRVIEW AND FOOT AND MOUTH OUTBREAK!
Foot and Mouth Disease:
There is a FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE outbreak with confirmed cases in KZN, GP, Limpopo and NW. In order to protect the Jersey cows in Fairview you will see disinfection basins for your shoes and wheels at every gate. Please use them to prevent infection. If you have been riding or running in one of these provinces, please clean your equipment before heading out to Holla Trails. We have also diverted the Silver Workshop17 and Blue Roofco MTB route and the Brown CMH Nissan Ballito run route via the Blue run route that goes parallel to the concrete road in Fairview. Please use this diversion because the original route goes straight through the “safe area” for the Jersey cows. It’s a temporary measure that is in place until the disease in under control.
Changes to Fairview Access:
As you are aware, some of our routes go through Fairview Estates and apart from the artisan farm lifestyle, security is high on the priority list at Fairview Estates. This means that in order for Holla Trails members to have access to the estate we need to comply with their new entry procedures. The new entry system is more stable, even with power outages and works with biometrics. Everyone who wants access to Fairview will need to be loaded onto the database.
We have started with registering and scanning. Please make sure that you pop in at the trailhead for a scan before 7th July when the system will be fully operational and access with facial recognition is the only way in for Holla members. For day visitors we will work with once off access codes instead of face recognition at the gate. The process takes about 1 minute and we need your ID and phone number.
The process at the gates will work as follows, please read and familiarise yourself with the processes:
🚲️ All gates require an individual check in and check out for each person. The number of entries and exits need to match at the end of the Holla Trails access time of 18:00. We do have access from 06:00 (first check in) to 17:30 (last check in) and every one needs to be out by 18:00.

When you enter the holding area and the first gates is closed then the second gate opens. Power failures were an issue with the old system, but the new system has a solar/battery back up in case there is a power failure. In the unlikely scenario that the back up system fails too, there is an emergency system that locks the first gate and opens the second gate so you will never be locked in.
